A Perfect Weekend Trip To Mousuni Island From Kolkata

Camping is always my forte. Every time heard of camp my heart gets pumped up. When I heard about beach camp, without a second thought I planned for it with one of my travel partners.
Yes! a perfectly calm and blissful weekend gateway from Kolkata's busy life, Mousuni Island.
Mousuni Island is a small island near Namkhana in South 24 Parganas district in West Bengal.
Approx 115 from Kolkata (Esplanade) this island is surrounded by river Hoogly and very near to estuary (Mohana).
You can practically see Jambu Dweep and Sagar Island if you take a boat ride here.
How To Reach
Best way to travel via local train.
Take a train from Sealdha (SDH) to Namkhana (NMKA).
From Namkhana station you need to take a rickshaw to rich Ferry ghat.
Cross the river (Hatania-Doyania) in a traditional boat.
Now the bridge between Hataniya-Doyania has been opened. So you can opt-out the boat ride
After crossing the river you can take a rikshaw or can walk for 10 mints to reach the bus stand.
You will find plenty of cars going to different places. Don't be confused, take a Toto or Magic auto to Durgapur Ghat.
Ask anyone about Bagdanga ghat and the locals will help you out.
You need to again cross the river to get to Bagdanga and take a Toto to Baliyari where all the camps are set up.
If you are going by bus, you need to follow the same route from Namkhana. There are buses from Esplanade to Namkhana.
If you are traveling via car, you need to find a garage near Durgapur Ghat or in Namkhana.

What To Do
Just do nothing. Chill and relax in hammocks and enjoy nature.
Mousuni Island is perfect if you like to spend time with nature and explore village life. Roam around in the beach, riverside.
Witness the amazing sunset.
We have seen live seashells running on the beach.
Local people are very friendly. Even they offer us to visit their home.
We went on a fishing boat into the sea, playing into the water and whatnot.
In the evening they arranged us bar-b-q and bonfire.(Extra charges applied)
If you into drinking you need to take drinks with you. There is no liquor shop there.
Where To Stay
There are a few camps situated just 50 meters from the water.
We stayed at Izifiso's Backpackers Camp.
They have tents as well as mud cottages. Clean bathrooms and all the basic amenities.
Food is also great and included in the package.
